ASiT Council Summer Recruitment 2026/2027

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the largest surgical trainees’ association in the UK and Ireland, working alongside the current ASiT Council to promote excellence in surgical training and education.

Applications are now open for the roles of: 

Medical Student Representative:

Applications are now open for one Medical Student Representative position who will be an ASiT Council member. They will serve a key role in maintaining communication and engagement with Medical Students across the UK and Ireland.

Foundation Representative:

Applications are now open for one Foundation Representative position who will be an ASiT council member. They will serve a key role in liaising with and recruiting to ASiT Foundation School Ambassadors throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland to represent foundation doctors interested in surgical training and education.  

Innovation Lead:

Applications are now open for the position of one Innovation Lead, who will be an ASiT council member. They will serve a key role in the UK and Republic of Ireland to advocate for the advance of technology enhanced surgery and training. ASiT play a key role in ensuring that surgical innovation involves trainees. The FOS:TEST report (2018,2022) highlighted the need for technological advancement, innovation and for clinicians to be involved in this process. The ASiT innovation lead will work closely with industry partners, royal colleges, the ASiT executive and robotic and digital surgery trainees committee. 

Equality & Diversity Officer:

Applications are now open for the position of one Equality & Diversity Officer, who will be an ASiT council member. ASiT works to promote excellence in surgical training for the benefit of patients and trainees irrespective of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion and protective characteristics.  ASiT’s diverse Executive and Council uphold the responsibility, on behalf of our membership, to ensure surgical training is accessible to all.

  • Republic of Ireland (x1)
  • Oxford
  • Scotland – South East
  • Wales
  • Wessex
  • Yorkshire

Regional Representatives make up a significant component of the ASiT Council and provide a vital local point of contact with ASiT for surgical trainees across all grades and specialties. There are currently 23 regions. The regional representative network is closely aligned to the Schools of Surgery and postgraduate deaneries.
