Mr Leo Brown
Leo Brown is a surgical registrar in Edinburgh, with interests in oesophagogastric cancer and academic surgery. He graduated from University of Edinburgh before completing his foundation and core surgical training in Newcastle, then securing his NTN in 2019. In 2021, he undertook a period of OOPR working towards a PhD at University of Edinburgh funded by the RCSEd Maurice Wohl Research Fellowship. Leo’s PhD focussed on clinical and translational research related to cancer cachexia in oesophagogastric malignancy, but he also has interests in data science and clinical trials. He is now the associate subspecialty lead at RCSEng / AUGIS for oesophageal cancer research.
Leo is President for the Roux Group, having served on the executive committee since 2018. He is also the UK representative for ‘Young ESDE’ and was formerly the trainee representative for the general surgery specialty board at RCSEd. Outside of work he spends time with his family (and comically large dog), golfing and being perpetually disappointed by the Scotland national rugby team.
