Raiyyan Aftab

Raiyyan is a ST3 Plastic Surgery in the Wessex and Thames Valley Deanery. He joined ASiT in 2021 as the Wessex Representative, continuing on as the Director of Education and Yearbook Lead subsequently. In March 2024, he was elected as Vice President. Raiyyan graduated from Newcastle University in 2019, with an intercalated MRes in Transplant Sciences. Following this, he completed an Academic Foundation Programme, with research interests looking at perioperative risk stratification. Through his time on executive, he has represented the views of his colleagues at multiple national fora. Taking this forward in his new role, he hopes to work closely with the Presidential team and wider council to develop a sustainable long term strategy for ASiT and continue to tackle the pressing issues surgical training currently faces in the UK.
