Empowering Tomorrow's Surgeons

Chaninda (Holly) Dejsupa

Regional Representative - West Midlands

Hello! I’m a plastics-themed CST currently based in the West Midlands. I’m a proud Bristol Medical School graduate (Class of 2022) and completed my foundation training in the beautiful hills of Surrey. As a third culture kid, I’ve grown up learning how it feels to be in-between: navigating unfamiliar environments and finding belonging. That sense of disorientation and isolation often echoes in surgical training too, where relentless on-calls, ever-changing teams, and a lack of continuity can leave trainees feeling invisible.

Thus, my aim is simple: to help shape a culture where trainees feel seen, supported, and genuinely heard. I care deeply about tackling burnout, challenging toxic norms, and addressing the structural gaps that persist in surgical education. Having previously served on the National Student Committee of the Society of Cardiothoracics Society, I will endeavour to bring a thoughtful, purpose-driven approach to advocacy, representation, and equity in training.

Outside the hospital, I’m an avid musician & producer, with my music previously featured on BBC News (because yes, you can absolutely mix scalpels with synths). Through ASiT, I hope to be a strong and approachable voice for trainees across the West Midlands, championing connection, culture change, and a sense of belonging that extends beyond the rota.
