Salma Khatun

Regional Representative - North East Thames

Salma is a Core Surgical Trainee on the North East and Central Paediatric Surgery track in London. She holds a First Class BSc (Hons) in Clinical Sciences and later graduated in Medicine (MBChB) from the University of Glasgow. Prior to medical school, she worked within the healthcare management landscape in the NHS. She completed her Academic Foundation Programme in the North West of England with a focus on medical education. Her recent leadership experience includes President of the North West Foundation Forum, leading 96 representatives across 24 hospital trusts, and is a current member of the Postgraduate Special Interest Group within the National Medical Schools Widening Participation Forum. She has also worked with the General Medical Council on quality assurance and monitoring of new medical schools. She is active within the medical research and entrepreneurial sphere.

Passionate about advocacy, innovation and service improvement, Salma is committed to enhancing the training experience for surgical trainees across the UK.
