Luke Zhu

Luke is a ST3 Trauma & Orthopaedics trainee in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex deanery. He graduated from the University of Glasgow with commendation, and completed an intercalated BSc in cardiovascular studies. He completed the specialised foundation programme in London and core surgical training in the West Midlands.

Alongside clinical training, Luke has built a strong portfolio in collaborative research and medical education. He served as regional lead for the STARSurg RECON collaborative, coordinating teams across eight hospital sites. He co-founded AspireMed, a national widening-participation charity that delivered a free online conference for over 1,400 prospective medical students, and was awarded Most Impactful Project at the National Medical Schools Widening Participation Forum. 

As ASiT representative for KSS, Luke is passionate about being an accessible, proactive advocate for surgical trainees across the region. Having previously served as a CST representative, he understands the importance of ensuring every trainee - regardless of site or stage - has a voice in shaping their training. He is keen to hear from all with ideas, queries, or concerns about surgical education and training in KSS.
