ASiT: Shaping the Future of Surgery
Back to Regional Representatives

George Karagiannidis

Regional Representative - Kent, Sussex & Surrey

I finished my primary medical education in Greece before relocating to the UK to begin my foundation training. Currently, I hold the position of CT2 in General Surgery in the East of England and I am due to commence ST3 within the London deanery.

Alongside my clinical duties, I'm pursuing an MSc in Trauma Sciences and have been accepted for a PhD program at Imperial College London starting in August. My professional interests lie predominantly in upper gastrointestinal (UGI) and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery. Over recent years, I've actively participated in various national and international collaborative endeavors, including leadership roles in projects like the MASSIV study.

In my capacity as the ASiT regional representative for London and KSS deanery, my primary aim is to engage more trainees and medical students in surgery-related projects, fostering an inclusive network. Additionally, I intend to organize surgery-focused courses for trainees to enrich their knowledge and experience.
