Raiyyan Aftab

Raiyyan is an ST5 Plastic Surgery in the Wessex and Thames Valley Deanery. He joined ASiT in 2021 as the Wessex Representative, continuing on as the Director of Education and Yearbook Lead subsequently. In March 2025, he was elected as President. Raiyyan graduated from Newcastle University in 2019, with an intercalated MRes in Transplant Sciences. Following this, he completed an Academic Foundation Programme, with research interests looking at perioperative risk stratification. Through his time on executive, he has represented the views of his colleagues at multiple national fora. Continuing on the work from his Presidency, his key goals are to improve accountability of the training tariff and reduce unwarranted variation in surgical training.
