Adil Lakha

Research Representative

Adil Lakha is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF) in General Surgery at the University of Oxford, and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Adil graduated from the University of Cambridge with an intercalated degree in immuno-virology, and completed his foundation training in Thames Valley. His current research focus is within hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HPB) surgery, specifically on improving oncological outcomes for patients with pathology affecting the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder, through the development of clinical trials in this subspecialty area.

Recent clinical research work includes assessing the role of cell salvage in major liver resection, and enhancing our understanding of oligometastatic gastro-oesophageal cancers. Adil was recently appointed as Associate Surgical Specialty Lead for Liver Cancer Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons England, where he is involved in work to bring hepatic artery infusion of chemotherapy for unresectable colorectal liver metastases patients to the United Kingdom. As part of his ACF, he is also developing his skillset in translational research to further our understanding of the liver cancer immunological microenvironment.
