Council Recruitment 2024

ASiT Council Recruitment 2024/2025

The ASiT Team is delighted to open recruitment to ASiT council.  This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the largest surgical trainees association, and join the current ASiT team to pursue excellence in surgical training.

Deadline: 23:59 (BST), 14th December 2024

Applications are now open for the roles of:

ASiT Sustainability Lead
ASiT Regional Representative - Scotland (East)

ASiT is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes application forms from all suitably qualified applicants irrespective of religious belief, gender, race, disability, political opinion, age, marital status, sexual orientation or whether or not they have dependents.

ASiT Sustainability Lead

To coordinate and develop ASiT’s role in this initiative, we will be appointing a Sustainability Lead to ASiT Council starting from November 2024.

The World Health Organisation describes climate change as currently being the greatest threat to human health. Producing approximately 5% of the UK’s emissions, the NHS is both part of the problem and the solution, meaning that we as healthcare professionals have a responsibility to act. The decarbonisation of surgical care has been bolstered by the recent publication of the Green Surgery Report and development of the Intercollegiate Green Theatre Checklist, but awareness and usage remain low. As current surgical trainees and surgical consultants of the future, we have the opportunity to lead the way in the development of high-quality, low carbon surgical care.
