Animal Tissue Simulation Material
Practical Stations:
1. Local Flap Design & Execution
Techniques Covered: Advancement, rotation, transposition, and Z-plasty.
Materials: Porcine skin/ox tongue to simulate human skin layers.
Objective: Teach planning and execution of flaps for various defect shapes and sizes
2. Suturing Techniques
Skills Practised: Simple interrupted, vertical and horizontal mattress, subcuticular, and deep dermal sutures.
Materials: Synthetic suture pads or animal tissues.
Objective: Enhance precision and technique in wound closure.
3. Tendon Repair Basics
Focus: Introduction to flexor and extensor tendon repair techniques.
Materials: Chicken feet or synthetic tendon models.
Objective: Understand tendon anatomy and practice repair methods.
4. Skin Grafting Techniques
Procedures: Harvesting split-thickness grafts and securing them onto the recipient sites.
Materials: Pig skin for both donor and recipient simulation.
Objective: Demonstrate graft preparation and application methods.
5. Wound Debridement and Closure + VAC/PICCO
Activities: Simulate debridement of contaminated wounds and practice closure techniques.
Materials: Animal tissue with simulated necrotic areas.
Objective: Teach principles of wound management and closure strategies.
