ASiT Foundation Skills in Surgery Course, Leeds 8th September
This is a one-day event focusing on teaching the basic skills in Surgery. It is aimed at 4th Year Medical Students to Foundation Doctors with an interest to pursue Surgery as a future career. The event includes practical sessions on basic surgical skills (knot tying, suturing, drain insertion and securing). It also offers guidance for applying to Core Surgical Training and a portfolio clinic with personalised information for CV improvement prior to applying. .

09:00 - 09:15 – Registration
09:15 - 12:30 – Surgical skills sessions: Suturing and knot tying
13:30 - 14:00 – Overview of core surgical training
14:00 - 15:30 – Specialty Breakout rooms – 3 x 30 minutes sessions: Urology (cystoscopy/difficult catheters), General Surgery (laparoscopy), Plastics (tendon repair)
15:45 - 16:30 – Portfolio building seminar
16:30 - 16:45 – Closing remarks
