ASiT Foundation Skills in Surgery Course 13th December 2025

This one-day practical workshop introduces essential surgical skills for junior trainees, with hands-on stations covering knot tying, basic suturing techniques, and wound closure. Afternoon sessions focus on core minor operative skills including local flaps, abdominal wound closure, skin lesion excision, and incision & drainage. The programme is delivered by surgical registrars and core trainees, with certificates provided for all participants.

Programme:

09:00 – 09:15 — Introduction
09:15 – 10:00 — Knotting
10:00 – 12:00 — Suturing (interrupted, continuous, mattress, and subcuticular)
12:00 – 13:00 — Lunch break
13:00 – 14:00 — Skin lesion excision
14:00 – 15:00 — Closing abdominal wound
15:00 – 16:00 — Local flap
16:00 – 16:30 — Surgical career talk
