Amna Syeda Azim

Regional Representative - Peninsula

Dr Syeda Amna Azim is a Specialty Trainee in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) within the South West (Severn) Deanery. A dual-qualified clinician, she holds a medical degree from Trinity College Dublin and a dental degree from the University of Karachi. Her postgraduate qualifications include an MSc in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Diploma in Clinical Dental Sciences from UCL, as well as Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDS RCS Edin). 

Dr Azim joined ASiT to advocate for greater representation and tailored support for OMFS and dual-degree trainees, along with other surgical specialities, across the UK. With a vast clinical experience in both the NHS and Irish healthcare systems, she has worked across OMFS, ENT, and general surgery, and has been actively involved in research, audit, and surgical leadership.

She has served as a Council Member of the Irish Medical Organisation for three years, alongside her role as Support Officer for the European Junior Doctors Association. Through these positions, she has contributed to national-level advocacy on workforce wellbeing, training standards, and medical policy.

As part of the ASiT Council, Dr Azim is committed to representing the South West surgical community, promoting excellence and equity in training, and supporting ASiT’s broader mission to shape the future of surgical education in the UK and Ireland.
